An exciting opportunity has become available with our prestigious client who is a prominent government department. The client is seeking an experienced Atlassian Engineer to join their welcoming team.
The Atlassian Engineer Role:
Responsible for designing, building and maintaining key operational infrastructure services consumed within the directorate; with a particular focus on End-User Compute (currently a Macbook estate), User management and Office Productivity tooling used in an Engineering environment. Alongside being a hands-on engineer, core responsibilities include acting as technical lead for the team responsible for providing the core End-User Compute estate, hardware management, user management, user support and Office Productivity solutions within Working Age Services. We are looking for the kind of person who enjoys a challenge. Working Age Services is undergoing a period of technical change in line with our technical strategy – aiming to become more consistent in our ways of working, more standardised in our technical stacks, providing coherent shared capabilities to underpin the way we operate, and transforming our underlying services.
The organisation is rationalising its Atlassian installations and is looking for an experienced Jira/Confluence administrator to lead, design and perform the migration, in addition to providing ongoing business-driven enhancement and ad-ministration of Jira and Confluence.
Key areas of enhancement are
• New, bespoke Jira projects to support the business needs of teams
• Integration with Service Now to enable strategic incident management approach
• Performance tuning
The client requires someone who has a deep understanding of Jira and Confluence administration and how this can be safely applied in a complex environment that covers software & IaaS development, product support and user-centric design. You will be expected to work closely with users to understand their needs and provide a solution that meets the needs they have described, all at pace.
What the Atlassian Engineer Will Need:
We are looking for expert-level knowledge and deep experience in:
• Jira and Confluence
• Atlassian plugins (including writing groovy for script runner)
• Safely migrating Jira and Confluence projects/spaces and users to a new installation
• Co-designing effective Jira workflows/schemes with delivery leaders
• Designing and running an administration function fit for regular requests for new users, new spaces, customised Jira workflows/schemes for projects etc
• Reviewing and improving security groups and roles to improve ease of management
• Ensuring effective communication between stakeholders for the design and transition to the single installation
• Performing upgrades with communication to affected end users
• Optimising and improving Jira/Confluence performance
• Working at a good pace
It would also be very useful (but not essential) if you have previously worked in an agile environment, and have experience of creating and managing infrastructure solutions in AWS
Minorities, women, LGBTQ+ candidates, and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Interviews will take place this week, so please apply immediately to be considered for this exciting contract opportunity.
